Project Description

Whenever we hear or say something is old or "luma" in Tagalog, what usually comes to our mind is that those things are worthless, valueless, rubbish and many more.

With the help of this blog, this perception will change from being insignificant to being loved. Uniqueness is the best thing that flourishes your thoughts once you've seen the wonder that is Gensan's Lone Ancestral House.

This project entitled “Mga Lumang Kumikinang” is an official entry to the “Doon Po Sa Amin Ano ang Kwento Mo?" of Smart Schools under the Tourism category.

This aims to introduce an ancestral home that has been preserved through time found at General Santos City. On the other hand continues to shine in the Tuna industry and attract tourists and researchers with some of its amazing, known and yet to be discovered tourist spots.

The proponents of this project hope to bring the best, and give a new perspective from Gensan’s hidden treasures.

Since there was a Halloween Party to be held at the Ancestral House, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to witness the said event. We attended the party with our costumes and took pictures with the frightening features of the house in order to add more personality to our blog.

Trick or Treating at the Ancestral House

The moment we took a step within the vicinity of the house, goose bumps ran across our arms and necks as we felt the cold night breeze. The eeriness that seemed to build up in the air around us created an uneasy sensation while we took a footstep after another on the pathway toward the house.

We were half way to the house. We thought all the terrifying obstacle were over, counting the “ghosts” lurking in the shadows and the “zombies” crawling from afar then you suddenly feel a tug on your clothes. You turn around and there they are, with fake blood oozing from their rotting face!

But no, they still had more to offer. We were almost there when, less than a split second, a beheaded head dropped right in front of our petrified faces!

At last! We reached the house. From the heart-attacking feeling you got from the horrifying stunts, the moment you get in the actual gate of the Ancestral House, the feeling immediately changes to being amazed by the beautiful lights and the music being played.

There was definitely more to the house than the Halloween tricks. We weren’t expecting to see a whole lot of Disney characters! The first characters we saw were Cinderella and her very charming Prince. They were still inside the house, and at that moment we realized we were the first ones there. Beside the house, a large deck of cards were to be seen. As we got closer we recognized who they were, the Deck of Cards servants to the Red Queen! More characters were Peter Pan, Tinkerbelle, Pinocchio, Ariel and her small pool, Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Snow White and her Prince, Belle, Sleeping Beauty and her Prince, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pochahontas, and Jasmine.

Disney characters weren’t the only ones making us feel as if we were in a story book. The Cullen Brothers, Edward and James, didn’t want to miss the event too. Baby versions of the characters Peter Pan, Spider Man, Super Man, Ben 10, and Zorro also came to the occasion and sprinkled their cuteness all around.

Food was served for the people to enjoy. But at first sight, deliciousness wouldn’t come to your mind. They took the name finger food to a whole new level! In actuality, these literally called "Finger" food are butter cookies.

Celebrities didn’t want to miss out on the event also. Acee Salangsang from Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition wore a witch costume and later joined us in the trick or treating. We also spotted Joey C. from the TV Patrol SOCCSKSARGEN.

As midnight approached, we decided to go home as we have gathered enough data to attach to our blog. Memories were also brought home as the Ancestors had plenty of new acquaintances.
